In the early 1990s, the American pony car was an endangered species with an uncertain future. Market tendencies of the time favored four- and six-cylinder-powered front-wheel drive sedans, and the traditional American sports coupe appeared to be driving into the sunset. Against today’s standards, the car featured in this video may seem rudimentary in interior styling, performance characteristics, and available features, the ’91 Pontiac TA GTA represented the finest offering then-available in the GM pony car segment.
